| One of the major reasons of PST corruption is the PST size limitation problem. Different versions of MS Outlook email client uses different character formats to write PST files, which determine their pre-defined size limit. Earlier versions of MS Outlook (Outlook 2002 and 2003) support ANSI character format and thus have a size limit of up to 2 GB. On the other hand, later versions of MS Outlook (Outlook 2007 and 2010) are based on Unicode character format and the size limit extends up to 10 GB. If these size limits are exceeded because of overloading of emails and other items of the user mailbox account, PST files may get corrupt.
